    "bio_short": "Sixpence None the Richer is a rock band with roots in New Braunfels, Texas, eventually settling in Nashville, Tennessee, named after a passage in C. S. Lewis' book Mere Christianity. The band is currently in the process of tracking a new EP, with tour dates planned throughout 2008.  Guitarist/songwriter <a href=\"http://www.last.fm/music/Matt+Slocum\" class=\"bbcode_artist\">Matt Slocum</a> met vocalist <a href=\"http://www.last.fm/music/Leigh+Nash\" class=\"bbcode_artist\">Leigh Nash</a> at a church retreat in the early 1990s. They recorded a demo (which now circulates as The Original Demos) and eventually an album, <a title=\"Sixpence None the Richer - The Fatherless and the Widow\" href=\"http://www.last.fm/music/Sixpence+None+the+Richer/The+Fatherless+and+the+Widow\" class=\"bbcode_album\">The Fatherless and the Widow</a> for R.E.X. Records in 1993. The record featured Chris Dodds (of Slocum's band Love Coma) on drums. Shortly after the release of the album, Slocum left Love Coma to pursue Sixpence full time.
