[C]Listen folks and I will [G7]tell a funny [C]story
You may think it sad but I was in my [G7]glory
[C]Twas a cellar I crept in cob[F]webs brushing by my chin
On the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

As my hand fell on the [G7]jug I had to [C]snicker
But when I started for the door I went much [G7]quicker
[C]For just up above my head some[F]one jumped right out of bed
On the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

As I left that cellar be[G7]lieve me I was [C]lifting
And the hops from one arm to the other [G7]shifting
[C]Then I stopped and hauled the plug sat [F]there till I drained the jug
Had my [C]mind all set no [G7]spare drops I was [C]missing

Then on my feet I [G7]thought I was but [C]wasn't
And for roads I guess I saw about a [G7]dozen
[C]When I reached the old porch door I [F]went smack-o on the floor
On the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

I just made one step and [G7]landed in the [C]coal box
Then from off the mantle came a Big Ben [G7]alarm clock
[C]But I finally got upstairs after [F]passing seven bears
Twas the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

By my bedroom door an [G7]owl stood taking [C]tickets
Then the monkey stood before me baking [G7]biscuits
[C]But the funniest sight of all was [F]two roosters playing ball
On the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

I saw mice as big as [G7]horses washing [C]dishes
As an ape came in the door dressed up in [G7]britches
[C]Then the floor fell on my head as [F]I tried to get in bed
Twas the [C]night I stole old [G7]Sammy Morgan's [C]gin

Well I woke next morning [G7]guess twas closer [C]evening
And my room was certainly in an awful [G7]shape
[C]Someone else had took my head and [F]left an elephant's there instead
On the [C]morning after [G7]drinking Sammy's [C]gin
